about us

Samantha Fleming works at the nexus of social justice, social media and African development. She focuses on working with nonprofits in Africa, leveraging social networks to promote development.  Samantha has been working in ICT for Development since 1997, when she discovered opportunities for virtual diplomacy in conflict resolution in central Africa. She has worked in both England and South Africa in both corporate and NGO environments. She is part-sociogist, part-psychologist, part-geek and loves innovation and experimentation, especially when the focus is on social justice.
She has a passion for assisting nonprofits on a shoe string budget, who understand the power of social networking but have no geek skills. She also has a masters in HIV and poverty in Africa.  She currently works with Idasa advising on strategic online communications, and assists with several other African NGOs social media strategies. She’s a whirlwind multitasking mother of two, living and breathing the benefits of multiple social media channels for a rocking life!
Find her personal commentary about African development, social media and social justice on her blog and twitter.
